Since its foundation, Picsel has met and exceeded the expectations of some of the industry's most demanding investors. In 2001, we secured first round funding totalling $11m from SOFTBANK Europe Ventures and BancBoston Capital.
In 2002, second-round venture funding totalling $6m was secured from a consortium of Japanese investors including Yasuda Enterprise, CSK Ventures, Mizuho Bank and the Morito family - the first time that any of these had invested outside of Japan.
In 2004, we attracted a large non-equity loan agreement with Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad, the finance arm of the Malaysian Government.
Most recently, Capital International Private Equity Fund IV acquired a $46.5 million equity share capital in Picsel. In the same funding round, DCM, NIF, SMBC Ventures Co., Ltd. and SBI Investment Co have all invested in Picsel's exciting future, while DoCoMo.com, a subsidiary wholly owned by NTT DoCoMo, Inc, has also become a shareholder in the company.
